Turns out that the police are "cracking down" on some statute that is suppose to "protect cyclists".
Basically, what is happening, is that in downtown, they are pulling over and ticketing cyclists riding without a front light. Now, granted, it is illegal to ride without a light in the dark. Now that it's getting dark earlier, it affects more people.
I guess 4 people got popped just last night.
Go buy a light. Seriously. (I should take my own advice)...
It isn't a light fine, either. $190. That's right. One hundred and ninety dollars. Not fucking cheap! That's a WHOLE LOTTA light!
